Found a silly mistake during die design review.

It has been over for 4 months to start work in this company.

 

Fortunately, I'm managing the projects for a car maker which i had experience before.(can't expose a specific car maker's name...)

 

But devil is in the detail as life quotes, I found a big mistake even it is small error in 3D die design.

 

As shown below pics, i found silly mistake in die design during design review before going to pattern shop.

 

What i found is that each handing tap has their own different casting thicknesshanding and the location(height).

 

 

 

Why this is problem?

 

Handing tap's location is should be the same for balancing of the die while turning over. Otherwise, unbalanced condition can cause safety issue.

 

Casting thickness is more critical. Because each handing tap has the allowed weight to be lift as per it's casting construction. So. if improper casting construction for handing tap is on die. it could cause safety problem like falling down during lifting for die maintenance.

 

Anyway, this design mistake were reported to pattern inspertor at die shop, this issue will be fixed on both die design and pattern .
